Repair panel set for the right side, compatible with your Puch Maxi S or Supermaxi LG1 / LG2 moped.
The right side of the frame around the pedal shaft often tends to rust through over the years. With this welded panel set, you can neatly repair the area and restore it to its original condition. The panels are precision-fit and are welded in as a double-layer panel, just as they were originally manufactured.
To make the process easier, we’ve included installation photos. Follow these steps:
Step 1 (Fig. 3) Use the new top plate (with spot-weld holes) to trace the outline so that the old top plate can be removed. Then carefully cut out the old top plate using a suitable cutting disc. The old spot welds can be drilled out with a drill.
Step 2 (Fig. 4) Now use the cutting disc to trim the lower plate (without spot-weld holes) so that it fits onto the existing lower plate. It is recommended to cut the lower plate slightly smaller than the upper plate. This makes the area to be worked on more accessible. Then position the prepared lower plate so that it can be welded in place without slipping. Grip pliers and/or magnets work particularly well for this.
Step 3 (Fig. 5) Next, grind the weld bead flat so that the top plate can lie flush and securely against it.
Step 4 (Fig. 6) Now place the top plate onto the prepared bottom plate. In this step as well, it’s advisable to secure the plate firmly to prevent heat-induced warping and slipping. Use the welder to weld the top line, all the way around the pedal axle tube, as well as the prepared spot welds. Now all you have to do is sand everything smooth so you can paint it afterward.
