Gear rim and sprocket for repairing or adjusting the gear ratio of your Sachs moped
The power generated in the engine is transmitted to the rear wheel of your moped with the help of the drive chain and the gear rim. Ultimately, it is this transmission that ensures that your bead moves forwards. However, if the sprocket is worn or damaged, the chain on your Sachs moped may slip or even jump off. In this case, you should replace the gear rim as quickly as possible in order to enjoy full riding pleasure again and avoid possible consequential damage to your moped. However, wear or defects are not the only reasons for replacing the gear rim. Adjusting the gear ratio can also be an attractive reason for replacing the sprocket, as such an adjustment can result in either a higher top speed or tighter acceleration. Adjusting the transmission ratio, the easy way to optimised power output
Just one tooth more or less on the sprocket can have a major impact on the performance of your moped. Basically, you have two options if you want to change the gear ratio. With a smaller gear rim, which has one or more teeth less than the original sprocket, you can achieve a longer gear ratio. For you and your Sachs moped, this means a higher top speed with weaker acceleration. A larger sprocket with more teeth shortens the chain ratio. In practice, this means that you can look forward to faster acceleration, but have to accept a reduction in top speed. By the way: If you decide to replace the gear rim on your Sachs moped, this offers the additional advantage that this measure is not immediately noticeable. At least as long as you don't use an extremely much larger or smaller sprocket.
